Ground Gears

A ground gear has its tooth flanks finished by grinding after hardening. It runs quieter, carries more load and holds its accuracy far longer than a gear that is only cut. We harden and grind in our own plant in Ludhiana, so the whole sequence stays under one roof.

Ground Gears in India

We manufacture hardened and ground gears for drives that have to run accurately for years. Cutting a gear gives you the tooth form; grinding it after heat treatment is what gives you a true involute, correct lead and pitch, and a surface fine enough to mesh quietly under load. Case hardening distorts a tooth slightly, so the profile moves, the lead goes off and runout creeps in. Grinding takes that distortion back out. As trusted providers of Ground Gears in Ludhiana, we supply finished gears to your drawing and also grind gears that customers send us after their own heat treatment.

How Does Grinding Make a Gear Last Longer?

Grinding is the last operation, so everything before it has to be right. We control the whole sequence in house – material, turning, teeth cutting, heat treatment, grinding and inspection – which means nothing waits on an outside vendor and nothing is guessed at.

Our heat treatment is done on site: case carburising, hardening, tempering and induction hardening. Because the same plant hardens the gear and then grinds it, we know how much stock to leave on the flank and how each material behaves in the furnace. Every ground gear is checked on our inspection equipment and backed by a metallurgical laboratory that verifies case depth and core hardness before it leaves the plant.

Common applications include:

Rolling mills, Sugar mills, Oil expeller units, Rubber and plastic plants, Rotavators and agricultural implements, Gearbox rebuilds, Cement plants,
Crusher and mill drive systems

What Makes Our Ground Gears Trusted by Industry?

Most Trusted Industrial Ground Gear Manufacturer & Exporters in India

At Parkash Gears we have been cutting gears in Ludhiana since 1952, and we grind what we cut. A drive running on ground gears spends more time working: accurate tooth contact lowers vibration, which protects the bearings and seals around the gear as much as the gear itself. Lower noise matters where machines run near operators all day, and because wear is slower, the maintenance interval stretches.

Customers around Ludhiana usually just call a gear a garari, so if you are looking for ground garari or hardened garari, it is the same work described on this page. Send us the drawing and the application and we will tell you honestly whether the job needs grinding or only accurate cutting.
